photo watermark

Earlier time when I post photo to web, be it a online album or web blog, I never think of copyright or privacy issues seriously. But apparently there could be potential threat, in many ways. Unethical people can download that photo, post it on their site and claim it to be theirs, evil-minded party may edit your photo, and use it to attack back on your reputation, if doing so could gain them benefit in someway, others may use your photo in their gallery, website or photo stock to earn money, while you are not.

See, a simple photo thing also could get rise to many possible issue. So, to make things simple, I decided to do “stamping” on my photos, or more known as “watermarking”, label the photo so obvious that it belongs to ME!!

Back to sometimes ago, I start explore some software in the internet, some ask for money, some is free tool. Ended up i couldn’t find one that is convenient and give the watermarking that I want. I am lazy and didn’t research enough. Finally, I go back to a photo viewing software, IrfanView, which apparently can do some limited watermarking on photo, which I deemed good enough for my use.

we use its batch conversion feature to do our watermarking here

select ‘batch conversion’; tick ‘use advanced option’; go in and set the option in detail

tick ‘add overlay test’; go in the define the setting

here we can set how big is the watermark, which corner to stamp the mark, and the text we want to write

the $E36867 is asking the tool to print the photo taken date in this watermark, more option in the help button
